Paris Opera Competition Announces 2025 Winners

The Paris Opera Competition has announced its 2025 winners.

The first prize winner was Welsh baritone Steffan Lloyd Owen, a member of the International Opera Studio at Zurich Opera while second prize went to Russian soprano Elene Gvritishvili, a graduate of the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire and of the Bolshoi Young Artist Programme

The Audience prize was awarded to French countertenor Théo Imart.

This year’s jury was led by Julien Benhamou (Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Metropolitan Opera,Festival d’Aix-en-Provence), Jochen Breiholtz (Opéra de Lyon), Khori Dastoor (Houston Grand Opera), Sophie Joyce (Opéra de Paris), Peter Katona (Royal Opera House), Isla Mundell-Perkins (Opera Australia, NorthOpera), Mathieu Pordoy (Opéra Comique, Opéra du Rhin & Opéra de Dijon), Christian Thompson (Orchestre de Paris), and Evamaria Wieser (Salzburg festival & Lyric Opera of Chicago).
