The Macerata Opera Festival has announced the appointment of Paolo Pinamonti as its new Artistic Director.

In a meeting held on Dec. 23, 2021, the Board of Directors of the Arena Sferisterio Association, chaired by the Mayor of Macerata Sandro Parcaroli, unanimously decided after an extensive and detailed discussion to entrust the artistic direction of the Macerata Opera Festival to Pinamonti for the three-year period between 2022-24.

Paolo Pinamonti is a graduate of the Conservatory of Padua. During his long and fruitful career, he served as the Artistic Director of the Teatro la Fenice, Teatro São Carlos, Festival Mozart de La Coruña, Teatro de La Zarzuela in Madrid, and Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli.

The 57th edition of the Macerata Opera Festival “100x100Sferisterio” was held between July 23 – Aug. 13, 2021, featuring number of Italian stars led by Claudia Pavone, Maria Teresa Leva, and Veronica Simeoni.
