Palm Beach Opera’s General Director Steps Down

By Francisco Salazar

Palm Beach Opera’s General Director David Walker is stepping down from his position.

The General Director announced his decision on Friday, March 8, and announced that wanted to “pursue other opportunities in the performing arts.”

In a statement, he said, “It has been a great honor to work with this incredible organization for nine seasons. I have been humbled by the strong outpouring of support for this company and myself during my tenure, and I am excited to hear of even more great things to come for Palm Beach Opera.”

The company said James Barbato will step in as acting general director.

Walker took over in 2015 replacing Daniel Biaggi and helped stage outdoor performances at the IThink Financial Amphitheatre in February 2021 at the height of the COVID pandemic. Walker also oversaw the opera company’s move to its new headquarters and performance space in West Palm Beach’s Northwood neighborhood.
