Palacio de Bellas Artes to Present ‘Madama Butterfly’

The Palacio de Bellas Artes has announced its upcoming presentation of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.”

The renowned Mexican theater will feature the orchestra and chorus of the Teatro de Bellas Artes, led by conductor Iván López Reynoso. Juliana Faesler will direct the production, marking her return to the iconic theater after more than a decade.

The Mexican cast includes soprano Maribel Salazar as Cio-Cio San, tenor Andrés Carrillo as B. F. Pinkerton, mezzo-soprano Itzeli Jáuregui as Suzuki, baritone Jesús Suaste as Sharpless, Gerardo Reynoso as Goro, Óscar Velázquez as Bonze, Édgar Gil as Yamadori, and Teresa Fuentes as Kate Pinkerton.

Performances are scheduled for June 25, 27, 29, and July 2.
