Pacific Opera Victoria Will Showcase Kálmán’s ‘Countess Maritza’ With Composer’s Daughter in Attendance

The Pacific Opera Victoria is set to present Kálmán’s “Countess Maritza” this April. The opening night performance, set for April 25, 2019, will also feature the composer’s daughter Ivanka Kálmán, as a featured guest of the company.

The performance will star soprano Leslie Ann Bradley in the title role. She has performed such operas as “Carmen,” “Otello” and “The Marriage of Figaro with the company.

Bradley will be joined by tenor Adam Luther as Tassilo. Suzanne Rigden will take on the soprano role of Lisa, while soprano Jennifer Taverner will play the fortune teller Manja. Additionally, the production will feature Nicola Cavendish, RJ Peters, Jim Leard and Brian Linds.

The production will be directed by Linda Brovsky and Timothy Vernon will conduct the Victoria Symphony.

“Countess Maritza” is set for additional performances on April 27, May 3, and May 5. It will be performed in English with one intermission.
