Pacific Opera Victoria Reimagines 2020-21 Season

By David Salazar

Pacific Opera Victoria has reimagined its 2020-21 season, which will feature both online and live presentations.

The new season is set to launch in July with radio and online broadcasts of past company productions as well as new intimate operas created for the small screen. The company will also engage with Pop Up Opera outside local residences and programming for families.

“Pacific Opera will also take this time to commission new works from Canadian writers and composers and to invest in artist residencies, mentorships and training through the continuation of our Artist Development program.” said Pacific Opera CEO Ian Rye in a press release.

The company also noted that it was intent on working with artists on preparing a full season that would include “Carmen,” “Death in Venice,” and “Don Giovanni.” However, its production of “Die Walküre” has been postponed. Finally, “The Flight of the Hummingbird” will be performed in a future season.
