Pacific Opera Project Unveils 2024-25 Season

By David Salazar

Pacific Opera Project has just announced its 2024-25 season.

“I’m incredibly proud of the range and diversity of the 2024-2025 Season,” said POP’s Artistic Director, Josh Shaw, in an official press release regarding the announcement. “When other companies are relying on the old standbys to fill seats, we’re leaning into unknown, but interesting repertoire with three LA premieres, including one US premiere. And we are taking our audiences to the new and to favorite eclectic venues for site-specific, or at least “site-inspired” productions. At POP, it’s always more than just a performance.”

First up is “Rusalka” in a production by Josh Shaw and conducted by Alexandra Enyart. The opera is presented in an English translation by Josh Shaw and Grant Preisser.

Performance Dates: July 12 – 21, 2024

Then comes Cagnoni’s “Don Bucefalo.” Kyle Naig conducts an arrangement of the work and Josh Shaw directs.

Performance Dates: Nov. 3 – 10, 2024

Josh Shaw directs Salieri’s “La scuola de’ gelosi.” Kyle Naig leads from the harpsichord.

Performance Dates: Jan. 10 – 19, 2025

The final production of the season is “H.M.S. Pinafore.” The work is conducted by Josh Horsch and directed by Josh Shaw.

Performance Dates: June 13 – 22, 2025
