Pacific Opera Project Launches Inaugural Artist Recital Series

Pacific Opera Project is set to launch its inaugural Artist Recital Series on Oct. 14, 2023.

The series will launch at the POP HQ in Highland Park. It will begin with the Cabaret Confidential: Two Untold Tales of Classical Cabaret featuring soprano Julia Maria Johnson and pianist John-Micah Braswell. The concert will include cabaret-style songs by classical composers including Samuel Barber, Sheila Silver, and William Bolcom.

The series continues with American Cabaret: A Continent of Color on Oct. 15 with baritone Ryan Reithmeier and pianist David Clemenson in a recital of 20th-century songs.

On Oct. 20 the series will present Halloween Tales Of Gore & Folklore with mezzo-soprano Danielle Marcelle Bond and pianist Milena Gligic. The recital includes Schubert’s Erlkönig, Jake Heggie’s Songs to the Moon, and Joseph Horovitz’s Lady MacBeth scene.

Words Of American Women Woolf, Dickinson, And Millay In American Song will be presented on Dec. 2, 2023 with mezzo-soprano Erin Alford and pianist Clara Cheng Stosch. The concert will explore American songs of the 20th century set to the passionate poetry of Emily Dickinson, Edna St. Vincent Millay, as well as deeply personal diary entries of Virginia Woolf.

On Dec. 15, 2023, mezzo-soprano Maria Dominique Lopez performs in “A Hipster Holiday” with a program of holiday classics.

On Jan. 19, 2024, baritone Omar Alejandro will present “Alma Mexicana,” a celebration of both Mexican classical and folk music.
