Pacific Opera Project Announces Unique Double Bill For 2020

By David Salazar

Pacific Opera Project has announced that it will be presenting a unique double bill that includes “Gianni Schicchi” and “L’Enfant et les Sortilèges.”

The performances, which are slated for three performances between Jan. 25 and Feb. 2, 2020, will take place at the Occidental College’s Thorne Hall. They will be conducted by Joshua Horsch with POP Artistic Director Josh Shaw directing the work. The production will link the two distinctive works through the character of Gherardino, the youngest member of the Donati family in “Gianni Schicchi,” who becomes the titular child of the Ravel opera.

Both works will feature overlapping casts with E. Scott Levin headlining the Puccini comedy, but appearing as Black Cat in the Ravel fantasy. Other cast members include Sharmay Musacchio, Kimberly Sogioka (who will star as L’enfant in Ravel’s work), Jonathan Matthews, Tiffany Ho, Thomas Sitzler, Danielle Bond, Sonja Krenek, Robert Norman, Jared Jones, Willian Grundier, Joel Balzun, Audrey Yoder, Sarabeth Belón, Peter Barber, and Michelle Drever.
