Pacific Opera Project Announces Online Watch Party for Historic ‘Madama Butterfly’ Production

Pacific Opera Project has announced that on July 15, 2020, it will be presenting a watch party for its production of “Madama Butterfly.”

The party, which kicks off at 5 p.m. PST, will feature interviews with Artistic Director Josh Shaw and Opera in the Heights Artistic Director Eiki Isomura as they relate the first-ever interpretation of this famed opera that includes a new libretto and English and Japanese. Andreas Kraemer will moderate the discussion.

The opera’s cast is headlined by Janet Todd as Cio-Cio San, Peter Lake as Pinkerton, Kenneth Stavert as Sharpless, Kimberly Sogioka as Suzuki, Eiji Miura as Goro, Hisato Masuyama as Bonze, Steve Moritsugu as Yamadori, Norge Yip as the Imperial Commissioner, and Chelsea Obermeier as Kate Pinkerton.
