Pablo Heras-Casado will lead the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana in a concert in honor of the victims of the floods earlier this year.

The program, which takes place on Dec. 10, 2024, will feature Beethoven’s Third Symphony and “Egmont Overture,” as well as the participation of the Schola Cantorum d’Algemesí, which opens the program with a series of “a cappela” interpretations.

According to reports the horrific flash floods in Valencia have killed at least 223 people. According to authorities, roads collapsed in some areas, with emergency services unable to get access. The tragedy left many Valencians infuriated by both the government’s response to the disaster and the lack of warnings that such an inundation was coming.

All proceeds for the concert will go toward the reconstruction and repair of damages caused by the floods.
