Pablo González has been appointed the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France.
He will step into the role in September 2027, for an initial term of four seasons.
In a statement González said, “I am deeply honored and thrilled to be appointed Music Director of the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France. From our very first encounter, I was struck by the orchestra’s extraordinary commitment, artistic vitality, and remarkable versatility. ONDIF is not only a superb ensemble – it is also a socially engaged institution with a powerful educational mission that resonates profoundly with my own values. I eagerly anticipate the 2027–2028 season, when we will embark on this exciting artistic journey together. Until then, my heart is full of ideas, hopes and sincere gratitude for the trust that has been placed in me.”
The conductor has already worked with the orchestra on several occasions, including in February 2024. He has been the Principal Conductor of the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (RTVE) from 2019 to 2023 and Artistic Adviser to the Orchestra and Choir, appearing regularly at Madrid’s Teatro Monumental. He was also Music Director of the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona I Nacional de Catalunya.
