Ottavio Dantone Named Music Director of Innsbruck Festival of Early Music

The Innsbruck Festival of Early Music has announced that Ottavio Dantone will take over as music director for the next five years.

He joins new Artistic Director Eva-Maria Sens in taking over for Alessandro De Marchi, who held the position of Artistic Director from 2010-2023.

Additionally, the Accademia Bizantia of Ravenna, Italy will become the “Orchestra in Residence” during those years.

The festival will open its 48th edition on July 21 and runs through August 30, 2024. Dantone and the orchestra will be featured in Giacomelli’s “Cesare in Egitto” and the conductor will lead a workshop for Francesco Bartolomeo Conti’s “Il trionfo della Fama.” The conductor and orchestra also appear in  “Il trionfo della Fama,” alongside  NovoCanto and La Stagione Armonica.
