The Osterfestspiele Salzburg has announced a cast change for its performances of Verdi’s Requiem.

The festival said, “As Jonas Kaufmann would like to concentrate fully on his three performances and his scenic role debut as Enzo Grimaldi in ‘La Gioconda,’ he has expressed the wish to resign his participation in our Choral Concert – Verdi’s Messa da Requiem.”

As a result, Luciano Ganci will take over the tenor part.

He will join a cast that includes Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, Judit Kutasi, and Michele Pertusi. Sir. Antonio Pappano conducts the performances on March 25 and 29, 2024.

The festival is set to run between March 22 and April 1, 2024
