Orquesta de Extremadura Announces New Music & Artistic Director

Spain’s Orquesta de Extremadura has announced that Roberto Forés will be its new Music and Artistic Director.

He succeeds Andrés Salado and will begin in his new position during the 2025-26 season.

Forés is the Principal Guest Director of the English Chamber Orchestra.  He debuted with the orchestra in 2014 and returned to perform with the orchestra in 2018  alongside Juan Manuel Cañizares. Forés also performed with the orchestra in 2021  and 2023.

The Government of Extremadura said, “The Orquesta de Extremadura has chosen Roberto Forés Veses as the new principal and artistic director to take charge of the musical quality of the OEX and its programming. He will take over from Andrés Salado, who completes his commitment to the Fundación Orquesta de Extremadura for four seasons in July of this year. The replacement takes place the year in which the OEX commemorates its 25th anniversary.”

Forés has conducted the Opernhaus Zurich, Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, Orquesta de Castilla y Leon, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Orchestre national de Pays de la Loire, Osaka Philharmonic, Nagoya Philharmonic, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, Israel Chamber Orchestra and Malaysian Philharmonic.
