Orchestre National de Lille Appoints Joshua Weilerstein New Music Director

The Orchestre National de Lille has appointed Joshua Weilerstein as its next Music Director.

General Director François Bou, President François Decoster, and the Board of Directors announced the news. Weilerstein will take up the position in September 2024 and he will succeed Alexandre Bloch.

Weilerstein served as Artistic Director of the Chamber Orchestra of Lausanne for six years and recently took the position of Chief Conductor of the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra in Denmark. He has also conducted the Bavarian Radio Symphony, SWR Stuttgart Symphony, NDR Hannover, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, and Komische Oper Orchestra

In a statement, Bou said, “Joshua Weilerstein conducts the world’s greatest orchestras. His values are fully in line with those of our orchestra: openness, excellence, and generosity.”
