Orchestre Classique de Montréal Unveils 2024-25 Season

The Orchestre Classique de Montréal has unveiled its 2024-25 season, the 85th in its history. Here is a breakdown of the vocal performances on offer.

First up is “The Servant and the Clairvoyant,” which features Pergolesi’s “La Serva Padrona” and Menotti’s “The Medium.” Simon Rivard conducts and François Racine directs.

Performance Dates: Oct. 8, 2024

Baritone Jean-François Lapointe will headline “French Impressions,” a concert featuring music by Fauré and Ravel. Andrei Fehr conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 20, 2024

Roï Azoulay leads a performance of Händel’s “Messiah” with les Filles de l’île and les Chantres musiciens.

Performance Dates: Dec. 12, 2024

Soprano Suzanne Taffot joins forces with conductor Kalena Bovell for “Distant Echoes of Africa.” The performance showcases works by George Walker and William Grant Still and the world premiere of “Le Deuil des roses qui s’effueillent” by David Bontemps.

Performance Dates: Feb. 6, 2025

Véronique Lussier conducts “Opera-Candy: The Gourmet Adventure of Hansel & Gretel.”

Performance Dates: April 6, 2025

Vocal artists Sharon Azrieli, Rose Naggar-Tremblay, and James Westman star in “Maestro Bernstein.” Mélanie Léonard conducts.

Performance Dates: May 2, 2025

The season ends with “Ode to Joy,” featuring Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Barbara Assiginaaks “Memengwenyig,” and Pierre Mercure’s “Cantate pour une joie.” Philippe Bourque conducts.
