Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Announces Cast Change for ‘Il Trovatore’

By Francisco Salazar

The Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano has announced a cast change for its July 10 performance of “Il Trovatore.”

The organization said that the role of Leonora will be sung by Alessia Panza, who will make her role debut.

In a statement the soprano took to social media and said, “After the last performance of ‘Tosca’ yesterday night at Teatro Sociale di Como (still with adrenaline on! ), today we start again with the rehearsals for the July 10 concert at the Milan Symphony. A sudden and overwhelming change of course… but coming back to Verdi so early makes me feel at home. And what a house: a wonderful stage, a prestigious setting, and a work that I viscerally love. A thought goes out to the colleague I had to replace: I send her a big hug and wish her a speedy recovery. For me this debut has a particular meaning: Leonora is a character that has been with me for years, it was the role of my conservatory degree and now it finally comes to life in front of the audience.”

Panza will sing alongside Angelo Villari, Daniel Luis de Vicente, Silvia Beltrami, and Adolfo Corrado. Vincenzo Milletarì conducts the concert performance.
