Oratorio Society Of New York To Present The Messiah To Celebrate Holidays

By Francisco Salazar

The Oratorio Society of New York is set to present Handel’s “Messiah” following its tradition of presenting the work every year.

The classic oratorio will be presented on Dec. 17, 2018, with Music Director Kent Tritle leading the OSNY in its 145th performance of Messiah.

The cast will include Leslie Fagan, a beloved Oratorio Society guest artist, countertenor Daniel Moody, tenor Isaiah Bell, and baritone Joseph Beutel.

The Oratorio Society will follow the Messiah with its third Carnegie Hall concert presenting a concert with works by Sibelius, Berlioz, and Debussy. The season will then conclude with Verdi’s Requiem starring soprano Elizabeth de Trejo, mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis, tenor Joshua Blue, and bass Adam Lau.

The OSNY has presented the Messiah every Christmas season since 1874, and at Carnegie Hall every year the hall has been open since 1891.
