Oratorio Society Of New York To Perform 146th Presentation Of The Messiah

By Francisco Salazar

The Oratorio Society of New York is set to perform its 146th presentation of the holiday favorite Handel’s Messiah.

The ensemble will consist of a 200-voice chorus, today New York’s standard for grand choral performance. Soloists will include soprano Leslie Fagan, contralto Heather Petrie, tenor Brian Giebler, and bass Adam Lau with conductor Kent Tritle.

Petrie and Giebler were finalists in the OSNY’s Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition in recent years. Meanwhile, Fagan is a frequent performer with the OSNY while Lau has performed Kentucky Opera, Wexford Festival, and San Diego Opera.

The concert is scheduled to take place on Dec.19, 2019, at Carnegie Hall. This season the oratorio Society also performs Brahms’ German Requiem and the world premiere of “A Nation of Others” by Paul Moravec & Mark Campbell.
