By Logan MartellOn December 20, 2021, the Oratorio Society of New York will continue its longstanding holiday tradition with a performance of Händel’s “Messiah” at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.
Led by conductor Kent Tritle, the performance will feature soloists soprano Leslie Fagan, contralto Heather Petrie, tenor Joshua Blue, and baritone Sidney Outlaw. The program will be comprised of Part I of the work, along with highlights of Parts II and III.
The concert will be presented without intermission.
The performance follows in the organization’s tradition of presenting the work every year since 1874. OSNY will continue their season in March 2022 with Mozart’s “Coronation Mass,” to be held at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and will return to Carnegie Hall on May 9 for Mendelssohn’s “Elijah.”
