The Opernhaus Zürich has announced that it will remain closed until at least April 5, 2021. The decision was made after broad consultations with the Canton of Zürich. Per the official statement on the company’s website, the announcement by the Swiss Federal Council at the beginning of February that no major easing is expected in March was the major driver for such a decision.

Swiss Federal Council decided on Jan. 7 to extend the lockdown until the end of February 2021. The next decision is scheduled for Feb. 17. However, the Opernhaus Zürich notes that the full functionality of its theater requires extensive planning, which is not possible at the moment due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.
