Opernhaus Zürich Announces Cast Change for ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’

Opernhaus Zürich has announced a cast change to its upcoming production of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

The company announced that Irina Lungu will sing the title role, replacing Lisette Oropesa, who was originally scheduled to perform.

Lungu will star alongside Piotr Beczala, Massimo Cavalletti, and Oleg Tsibulko. Speranza Scapucci is set to conduct the production which will be directed by Tatjana Gürbaca.

Lungu is well known for her Bel Canto and Mozart roles. She has performed the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor in Tokyo and Spain. She has also performed at the Wiener Staatsoper, Staatsoper Berlin, Royal Opera House, and the Metropolitan Opera, among others.

“Lucia di Lammermoor” is set to premiere in June with dates set to be announced in the coming weeks.
