The Opernhaus Zurich has announced cast change for “Il Pirata.”

The company noted that Irina Lungu will sing the role of Imogene, who will be stepping into concert performances for Albina Shagimuratova.

Lungu will make her role debut, and will mark her third Bellini role following Elvira in “I Puritani” and Giulietta in “I Capuleti e I Montecchi.” The role debut will be followed by another important role debut in July in Zurich, as Alice Ford in “Falstaff.” Lungu has performed at the Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Metropolitan Opera.

Lungu joins a cast that includes Konstantin Shushakov, Javier Camarena, Andrew Owens, Stanislav Vorobyov, and Freya Apffelstaedt. Iván López-Reynoso conducts the performances scheduled on July 1 through 10, 2022.
