OperaVision Preview 2020: Latvian National Opera & Ballet to Present Kalniņš’ ‘I Played, I Danced’

OperaVision will present Kalniņš’ “I Played, I Danced” live from the Latvian National Opera and Ballet on Jan. 31, 2020.

The opera, which was composed in 1977, will star Raimonds Bramanis, Marlēna Keine, Jānis Apeinis, Krišjānis Norvelis, Rihards Mačanovskis, Ilona Bagele, Rinalds Kandalincevs, Juris Ādamsons, Laura Grecka, Evija Martinsone, and Andžella Goba, among others.

Andžella Goba will conduct a production that will be directed by Laura Groza-Ķibere.

The stream kicks off at 6 p.m. local time. That’s around 12 p.m. Eastern time and 9 a.m. Pacific time for the start time. It will be available for repeat viewings on Opera Vision until July 31, 2020.

The streaming service is free through OperaVision, which, per its official website, is a project “supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, OperaVision builds on the success of The Opera Platform, with more contributing opera companies from more countries, under the editorial supervision of Opera Europa, the European association of opera companies and festivals.
