OperaVision Presents ‘Billy Budd’ From Den Norske Opera and Ballett

OperaVision will start streaming the Norske Opera and Ballett’s production of Britten’s “Billy Buddy” on Feb. 8, 2019.

The production will be directed by Annilese Miskimmon with conductor Mark Wigglesworth in the pit to lead the Norwegian National Opera.

The cast will feature Peter Hoare as Vere, Jacques Imbrailo as the title character, John Relyea as John Claggart, Aleksander Nohr as Redburn, Johannes Weisser as Flint and Jens-Erik Aasbø as Lieutenant Radcliffe among many others.

The stream kicks off at 7 p.m. local time. That’s around 1 p.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT for the start time. It will be available for repeat viewings on Opera Vision until August 7, 2019.

The streaming service is free through OperaVision, which, per its official website, is a project “supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, OperaVision builds on the success of The Opera Platform, with more contributing opera companies from more countries, under the editorial supervision of Opera Europa, the European association of opera companies and festivals. OperaVision brings together 30 partners from 18 countries and invites you to travel and discover the diversity of opera from wherever you want, whenever you want.”

Other streams coming in February include “La Gioconda” from La Monnaie and “Brothers” from the Icelandic Opera.
