On November 15, OperaStreaming will broadcast Handel’s “Aci, Galatea e Polifemo” live from the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza.

This production, directed by Gianmaria Aliverta, is the first staging in modern times of the version written for the famous castrato Senesino. Luca Guglielmi will conduct the Baroque ensemble La Lira di Orfeo. The cast of young artists includes Raffaele Pe as Aci, Giuseppe Bridelli as Galatea, and Andrea Mastroni as Polifemo.

First launched in 2019, OperaStreaming showcases works from eight opera houses in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, as they bring their operatic heritage to audiences worldwide. Productions are streamed on the company’s YouTube page, and made available indefinitely after the broadcast, with Italian or English subtitles.

Upcoming productions include Monteverdi’s “Orfeo” from the Teatro Dante Alighieri in Ravenna on February 28, 2021; Rossini’s “Barber of Seville” from the Teatro Municipale in Reggio Emilia on March 26; Verdi’s “Aroldo” from the Teatro Amintore Galli in Rimini on April 16; and Donizetti’s “La Favourite” from the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza on April 18.
