The Operalia competition has announced the 2022 edition.

The world-renowned competition will be held in Riga, Latvia at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet from Oct. 24 through Oct. 30, 2022.

Operalia was founded in 1993 by Plácido Domingo to discover and help launch the careers of the most promising young opera singers of today. Last year the competition was held at the Bolshoi Theatre and saw Victoria Karkacheva and Ivan Ayon-Rivas win the top prizes.

The competition has also seen Adriana Gonzalez, Xabier Anduaga, Emily D’Angelo, Adela Zaharia, Joyce Didonato, Levy Sekgapane, Elsa Dreisig, Lise Davidsen, Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Aida Garifullina, Amartüvshin Enkhbat, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Pretty Yende, and Sonya Yoncheva win.
