Operalia Announces 2020 Competition Schedule

The Operalia Competition has announced its 2020 competition, which will be held in Tel Aviv.

The competition announced that the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will take place Oct. 22 -28, 2020 with a total of 40 participants will be chosen to attend the Tel Aviv competition. Then 20 semi-finalists will be chosen with 10 subsequent finalists getting a chance to choose one aria and one optional Zarzuela aria to sing.

Plácido Domingo will conduct the evening with a distinguished panel of judges conformed of established international Opera Casting Directors and General Managers from the world’s great opera houses selecting the winners.

The Operalia Competition is one of the most recognized in the world and has seen such artists as Sonya Yoncheva, Lisette Oropesa, Ailyn Pérez, Nina Stemme, Rolando Villazon, Joseph Calleja, Ainhoa Arteta, José Cura, Ana Maria Martínez, Joyce DiDonato, Angel Blue, and Pretty Yende, among others, win.

Last year Adriana Gonzalez and Xabier Anduaga took top honors and have gone on to become some of the most promising singers of their generation.
