Dutch company Opera Zuid is set to present a production of Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” starting on May 23, 2021.

The famed bel canto opera will be presented in a modern production by Marcos Darbyshire and new arrangement by Pedro Beriso; this new arrangement is for five soloists and 12 musicians.

“L’Elisir d‘Amore” will star Jose Simerilla Romero as Nemorino with Julietta Aleksanyan as Adina. Belcore will be interpreted by Maksym Nazarenko with Dulcamara played by Sam Carl. Bibi Ortjens fills out the cast as Giannetta. Enrico Delamboye conducts the musicians of the Philharmonie Zuidnerland.

Following its May 23 performance at the Parktheater in Eindhoven, the opera will tour until June 22, 2021.

The opera will replace the originally scheduled production of Wagner’s “Das Liebersverbot,” which was canceled due to the restrictions imposed by the spread of COVID-19.
