Opera Zuid Announces 2022-23 Season

The Netherland’s Opera Zuid has announced its 2022-23 season.

The season opens with the Dutch première of “Lady in the Dark” by Kurt Weill and Ira Gershwin. David Stern conducts the production by Anna Pool. Sylvia Poorta, Maartje Rammeloo, and Alexia Macbeth star.

Performance Dates: Nov. 12-Dec. 11, 2022

Offenbach’s “Orphée aux enfers” will be conducted by Enrico Delamboye and directed by Benjamin Prins. The operetta will star soprano Amel Brahim-Djelloul as Eurydice, tenor Mark Omvlee as Orpheus and soprano Francis van Broekhuizen as Junon.

Performance Dates: May 21-June 17, 2023

“Ändere die Welt!” by Leonard Evers and Mart van Berckel will make its world premiere. The young composer/conductor Leonard Evers and the talented theatre maker Mart van Berckel together dive into the world of revolutions. Evers will conduct the production by van Berckel. The opera will star Michael Wilmering and Amara van der Elst.

Performance Dates: March 11-April 2, 2023

The family opera “Het Lijflied (The Body Song)” by Lucas Wiegerink will be presented with soprano Kristina Bitenc as Ina and tenor Pim van Drunen as Bolletje/Drolletje. 

Performance Dates: Sept. 23, 2022-Jan. 10, 2023
