Opera Vision 2017-18 Preview: ‘Aida’ & ‘Blaubart’ To Appear On Same Day

Opera Vision will showcase two operas starting on March 17, 2018. They include Verdi’s “Aida” and Offenbach’s “Blaubart.”

Verdi’s masterpiece will showcase Christina Nilsson, Ivan Defabiani, Katarina Dalayman, Alessio Cacciamani, and Johan Edholm from the Swedish National Opera under Maestro Pier Giorgio Morandi. It kicks off at 3 p.m. local time. That’s around 10:00 a.m. EDT and 7 a.m. PST for the start time. It will be available for repeat viewings on Opera Vision until September 16, 2018.

Meanwhile, the Offenbach opera will feature Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke in the lead role at the Komische Oper Berlin. The stream kicks off at 7 p.m. local time. That’s around 2 p.m. EDT and 11 a.m. PST for the start time. It will be available for repeat viewings on Opera Vision until September 16, 2018.

The streaming service is free through OperaVision, which, per its official website, is a project “supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, OperaVision builds on the success of The Opera Platform, with more contributing opera companies from more countries, under the editorial supervision of Opera Europa, the European association of opera companies and festivals. OperaVision brings together 30 partners from 18 countries and invites you to travel and discover the diversity of opera from wherever you want, whenever you want.”

Next up on the slate of live streams will be “Eros & Psyche.”

UPDATE: From OperaVision – Due to unforeseen circumstances, the première of Blaubart has been postponed to March 23. Only Aida will be shown this Saturday.
