
Opera Theatre of Saint Louis to World Premiere ‘This House’
By Francisco SalazarThis summer, “This House,” a new opera by Ricky Ian Gordon, Lynn Nottage, and Ruby Aiyo Gerber, will make its world premiere.
The opera will be showcased at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as part of the company’s landmark 50th season and will be performed at the Loretto-Hilton Center on May 31 and June 5, 11, 13, 21, and 29, 2025.
Principal Conductor Daniela Candillari will conduct the work in a production by James Robinson. The opera will star soprano Adrienne Danrich as Ida, mezzo-soprano Briana Hunter as her daughter Zoe, baritone Justin Austin as her son Lindon, baritone Christian Pursell as Lindon’s lover Thomas, tenor Brad Bickhardt as Zoe’s husband Glenn, and bass Sankara Harouna as Ida’s husband Milton.
The cast is rounded out by soprano Aundi Marie Moore, tenor Victor Robinson, soprano Brandie Inez Sutton, and mezzo-soprano Krysty Swann.
“This House” is based on a play Gerber wrote as a student at Brown University and marks her first professional collaboration with her mother, Lynn Nottage.
