The company revealed the production via social media stating, “‘Hope is never silent.’ Coming your way in 2021! This project is made possible in part thanks to the generosity of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Whitaker Foundation, and the NEA. We’re thrilled to be presenting this opera by composer Stewart Wallace and librettist Michael Korie. ‘Harvey Milk is an astounding achievement – lively, artful, tough-minded American music-drama, deeply satisfying to ear, eye and mind.’ – The Washington Post.”

“Harvey Milk” had its world premiere in 1995 at the Houston Grand Opera and was later performed at the San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, and Opernhaus Dortmund. The work was later recorded for Teldec by the San Francisco Opera.
