Opera Theater Oregon has received a grant from New Music USA.

The company will be one of 10 organizations to receive one-time grants of $3,000 for operating costs supporting programming and collaboration with U.S.-based composers and artists.

Other organizations who were honored include Albina Music Trust, Big Mouth Society, Fear No Music, Montavilla Jazz, Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble, REBELWISE, Resonance Ensemble, Third Angle New Music, and World Stage Theatre.

“Extending our support of the many new music communities in cities and regions across the US is a priority for New Music USA in the coming years. We’re excited to launch our Small Grant Fund in the vibrant city of Portland, and grateful to our anonymous donor for recognizing the importance of unrestricted funding and for making this possible,” said Vanessa Reed, the President and CEO of New Music USA.

Opera Theater Oregon previously received a 2022 Creative Heights Award from the Oregon Community Foundation for its production of “Nu Nah-Hup: Sacajawea’s Story.”
