Opera Stars React to Dmitri Hvorostovsky’s Announcement About His Future
By Francisco SalazarWith the announcement of Dmitri Hvorostovsky cancelling opera productions for the foreseeable future, opera stars reacted to the news. Among the stars that took to social media included Sondra Radvanovsky, Rolando Villazon, Piotr Beczala and Yannick Nezet-Seguin.
The Russian baritone announced earlier on Thursday that he would cancel opera productions. He stated, “It is with great sadness that I must withdraw from opera performances for the foreseeable future. I have been experiencing balance issues associated with my illness, making it extremely difficult for me to perform in staged productions.”
However, he noted that he would still be singing recitals. concerts and would be recording CDs. The baritone was originally scheduled to sing the title role of Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” at the Metropolitan Opera and Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” at the Royal Opera in London.
