Opera Southwest is set to present a double bill of Bartok’s “Bluebeard’s Castle” with the “Doctor Atomic Symphony” just in time for Halloween.

First on the bill, “Bluebeard’s Castle,” stars Justin Hopkins as Duke Bluebeard and Andrea Hillthe as Judith. Senior set artists from Meow Wolf, Lance Ryan McGoldrick and David Cudney have woven traditional themes, colors, and modern technology into the set design for this production.

After intermission, “Doctor Atomic Symphony,” based on the “Doctor Atomic” opera by John Adams will be performed by the Opera Southwest Opera Orchestra. Selections from the opera will be played simultaneously with corresponding projections.

Performances take place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center-Journal Theatre on Oct. 22, 27, and 29.
