Opera Southwest Director Launches Campaign To Help Company After Flood & Fire Damages Company Homebase

Opera Southwest has had to change the location for its upcoming production of Wagner’s “Lohengrin” due to a flood and fire.

However, the company also launched a campaign to assemble funds to help overcome other production difficulties resulting from the fire and flood. Per the company’s campaign the damage done will affect the organization in the long run.

“I believe communities are stronger, more vibrant, and healthier when surrounded by cultural institutions. So let’s help support the arts in Albuquerque,” said a message from E. Loren Meeker, who will be directing “Lohengrin. “I’m raising money for Opera Southwest and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support. I’ve included information about Opera Southwest below. Opera Southwest’s mission is to make quality professional opera enjoyable and accessible to audiences of all ages.”

Performances for the work will be on March 29 and 31 at the V. Sue Cleveland High School Concert Hall. The cast includes Corey Bix, Michelle Johnson, Claudia Chapa, Sean Anderson, and Harold Wilson. Anthony Barrese conducts.
