Opera singer Ilhor Voronka has been killed in action in Ukraine.

Voronka was an artist of the National Academic Chapel “Dumka.”

Voronka’s wife Maryna Rayevska took to social media and said, “It is with great sadness that I received the news from comrades-in-arms of my husband Ihor Voronka about his death on the battlefield on the evening of July 6.”

She added, “At the moment, we cannot hold a funeral and get official documents about his death, because the area is occupied. Therefore, he is officially listed as missing. As I write this, I still can’t believe it… We have lost a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will forever remain in our hearts. Thank you all for your support and kind words during this difficult time for us.”

Mykola Trofimov, director of the Dumka National Chapel added, “So, a disaster has come to our house… It is with deep sorrow that we announce the heroic death of the leading artist of the Dumka Chapel, an extremely talented person and the Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Ihor Voronka, for the sake of Ukraine’s independence.”
