Opera Saratoga to Hold ‘The Pirates Pajama Party & Treasure Hunt’ Virtual Fundraising Gala

By Logan Martell

Opera Saratoga has announced the company’s first ever virtual gala, “The Pirates’ Pajama Party & Treasure Hunt.”

This gala will be aimed at raising funds for Opera Saratoga’s community and educational programs such as “Saratoga Sings for Seniors,” “Opera-to-Go” for elementary students, and the organization’s Young Artist Program. It will be held on August 13, 2020 at 7:30 pm.

“The Pirates’ Pajama Party & Treasure Hunt” replaces the gala originally scheduled, titled “Opera on the Lake,” due to the ongoing coronavirus. The gala is also held in recognition of Rosemarie V. Rosen, President Emeritus of Opera Saratoga’s Board of Directors. Since taking on the position in 2013, she has overseen the company through a period of sudden growth and acclaim. This gala also celebrates Laurie Rogers on her tenth year as Director of their Young Artist Program.

“The evening promises to be an exciting evening of swashbuckling fun,” said gala chair Steve Rosenblum in a press release. “This one night only event will be truly interactive – an engaging evening of mystery and entertainment – featuring special performances of pirate themed music, including highlights from Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘The Pirates of Penzance,’ and an interactive treasure hunt with prizes.”
