Opera Saratoga’s 2018 Summer Festival has announced its season.

The program will feature new productions of four operas along with free events and concerts from May 26 through July 15 at venues throughout the region.

The first production of the festival will be “The Merry Widow” with soprano Cecilia Violetta López in the title role, alongside the company debut of baritone Jonathan Beyer as Danilo.

“The Consul,” will also be presented with soprano Meghan Kasanders as Magda Sorel alongside baritone Wes Mason as John Sorel and mezzo soprano Deborah Nansteel as John’s Mother, both in their company debuts.

The third production of the season will be a double-bill of “Rocking Horse Winner” and a new chamber version of “Vinkensport,” or The Finch Opera. The former will be an American premiere and the latter will be a world premiere.

Opera Saratoga will also present master classes and events will include two concerts connected to the summer operas. The first concert will be Vienna, City of My Dreams featuring scenes from operettas by Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár, Franz von Suppé and others. The other concert will be Refugee Voices, a concert of vocal music by composers from different periods of time who were refugees.
