Opera Saratoga Announces $10 Tickets & Sing-In Program

Opera Saratoga has announced that it is offering $10 student tickets for all performances during its upcoming summer festival.

“Opera should be accessible to everyone,” said Mary Birnbaum, Opera Saratoga’s General and Artistic Director, per an official press release. “While we’ve always offered tickets under $30, this gift allows any student with a valid ID to experience the magic of opera for just $10—less than the cost of a movie ticket.”

The festival kicks off on June 20 with “La Vie Parisienne” and also includes productions of “She Loves Me,” “In a Grove,” and “A Mass for Women in Bathrooms.”

The company also recently unveiled that it will showcase its first-ever sing-in, allowing local singers to work with Opera Saratoga Music Staff for an evening of music. The showcase will take place on June 24, 2025, at the Universal Preservation Hall.

“After holding the first local auditions in at least 15 years, we found that the talent in the Capital district was undeniable” Birnbaum added.”This summer’s festival was already planned but we wanted to figure out a way to honor and showcase our local singers. So we came up with the Saratoga Sing-in, a night full of arias sung by 16 Capital region singers accompanied by Opera Saratoga’s pianists, culminating in a pop-up chorus led by Opera Saratoga’s head of music staff, Laurie Rogers. The pop-up chorus will feature all the singers, along with the audience, who will be given sheet music and pronunciation guides for a chorus from ‘La Vie parisienne’ in advance, so that everyone can join in together.”
