Opera San José Unveils 2022-23 Season

Opera San José has announce its 2022-23 season.

The season marks the first under the leadership of Shawna Lucey.

“I’m happy to say that under the stewardship of my predecessor Khori Dastoor, Opera San José successfully navigated hardship throughout the pandemic, and has emerged stronger and more vibrant than ever before. I am honored to be part of this legacy and committed to furthering the company’s mission to make opera more accessible to all. A large part of these efforts will be driven by partnering with communities here in the South Bay,” Lucey said in an official press statement.

The season will kick off with “Le Nozze di Figaro.” The production will transport the opera to colonial India during Victorian Imperial rule. Brad Dalton will direct the production.

Performance Dates: Sept. 10-25, 2022

Alma Deutscher’s “Cinderella” takes the stage in a production by Brad Dalton.

Performance Dates: Nov. 12-27, 2022

Jose Maria Condemi will direct Verdi’s “Falstaff” with Joseph Marcheso conducting.

Performance Dates: Feb. 11-26, 2023

Joseph Marcheso conducts Tara Branham’s production of Puccini’s “Tosca.”

Performance Dates: April 15-30, 2023
