By Francisco Salazar

Opera San José is set to present Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” in a classic rendition of the work.

The production by Brad Dalton will be conducted by Joseph Marcheso, Opera San José’s Music Director and Principal Conductor.

The cast is set to include Kerriann Otaño as Leonora, Mackenzie Gotcher and Alexander Boyer sharing the title role of Manrico, SeungHyeon Baek and Eugene Brancoveanu alternating as Count di Luna, and Daryl Freedman as Azucena.

Prior to the performances, Larry Hancock will present a free 45-minute talk about the opera to ticket holders.

The production opens on Feb. 15, and runs through March 1, 2020 at the California Theatre, the elegant 1927 former movie palace which was restored to opulent splendor and now one of the world’s most intimate opera houses.
