Opera San José is inviting qualified candidates to apply for two open positions: Director of Artistic and Music Administration, and Artistic and Music Coordinator.
The Director of Artistic and Music Administration is a year-round, full-time position that functions as “a strategic partner to the executive team in the expansion of the company’s residency program and innovation initiatives as the operatic art incubator in Silicon Valley,” according to Opera San José’s website. Duties include “spearheading casting for the company, artistic recruitment, negotiations, artistic and music budget management, interdepartmental communication, audition strategy and industry interface,” as well as “serving as a liaison to creative teams, city contacts, artist managers and senior staff and collaborating cross-departmentally on key strategic initiatives that include civic and audience engagement activities.”
The Artistic and Music Coordinator is a seasonal, full-time position which “supports the daily in-season operations of the Artistic and Music departments.” Duties include general administrative support, assisting with scheduling and logistics for auditions, coachings, fittings, and orchestra rehearsals, assisting artists with housing, travel, and personal needs, maintaining the department master calendar, and so on.
Candidates should have at lease two years experience in music/artistic departments of performing arts organizations, and must own a vehicle which can accommodate transportation of an electronic keyboard.
