Opera San Jose Announces ‘Sing for Your Supper’ Virtual Fundraiser

By Logan Martell

On May 22, 2021, Opera San Jose will invite audiences from the Bay Area and beyond for their “Sing for Your Supper!” concert.

This virtual, variety fundraiser is inspired by the Golden Age of Radio from the 1930s, and will transport viewers to a virtual radio set for a program of American songs and stories. Recorded in the Heiman Digital Media Studio, the program will be hosted by Nathan Stark and Maya Kherani, who will be joined by OSJ Resident Artists.

While the concert will be available to watch for free, patrons will have three levels of donation. The first, at $500 comes with delivery of a three-course dinner from Le Papillon for two people with a speciality cocktail pairing. The second, at $1k, comes with dinner and cocktails for four people, as well as a commemorative DVD. The third, at $1.5k, comes with dinner and cocktails for six people, multiple DVD copies, and an invitation to an exclusive outdoor concert in July, 2021.

There will also be a pre-event auction, ending on April 11, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. Bidders have the chance to win prizes such as being able to watch a rehearsal in a specially-designed viewing pod, a walk-on role in the concert, and a VIP gala experience where the Resident Artists will perform an exclusive, 30-minute concert on your lawn, porch, or deck.
