Opera Revue Announces ‘Ruckus! On the Road’ Tour

By David Salazar

The Opera Revue is heading on tour this October.

From Oct. 19 – Nov. 19, 2023, the company will take its gala, “Ruckus! On the Road” through Peterborough, Barrie, Fort Erie, Windsor, and Picton. “Ruckus! On the Road” features classic opera arias and ensembles portrayed in non-traditional and even irreverent ways with the intention of introducing classic opera to new audiences.

“So many people in smaller cities and towns are curious about opera. But when you’ve got to spend hours in traffic traveling to ‘The Big Smoke’ and then have to fork out money for expensive tickets (don’t even get us started on parking downtown!), it’s no wonder many get deterred…so we thought we’d bring the show to you. Opera in a fun, accessible and affordable package!” said Soprano Danie Friesen who, alongside baritone Alexander Hajek and pianist Claire Elise Harris, will headline the program.

The first stop on the tour will be Market Hall in Peterborough on Oct. 19. On Oct. 26, the company heads to the Georgian Theatre in Barrie, followed by a showcase on Nov. 10 at The Sanctuary in Ridgeway. The Capitol Theatre in Windsor is then scheduled for a performance on Nov. 17, before the tour ends on Nov. 19 at Regent Theatre in Picton.
