Opera Rara Announces 2022-23 Season

Opera Rara has announced its 2022-23 season.

Here is the rundown of both performances and recordings the company will be making during the coming season.

Performances

The season opens with a performance of Mercadante’s “Il proscritto” with the Britten Sinfonia and Carlo Rizzi conducting. There will be a studio recording as well.

Performance Date: June 28, 2022

The company will record and perform Offenbach’s “La princesse de Trébizonde” at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. The opera will be performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Paul Daniel.

Performance Date: Sept. 16, 2022

There will be a studio recording and performance of Donizetti’s “Il furioso all’isola di San Domingo” which had to be postponed twice because of the pandemic

Performance Date: TBA 2023

Recordings

The company will release Leoncavallo’s “Zingari” with Carlo Rizzi and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Release Date: Sept. 23, 2022

Opera Rara Classics boxset release of remastered Offenbach operas.

Release Date: January 2023 

“Il proscritto” world premiere studio recording will be released in the spring.

Release Date: Spring 2023

New initiatives open to public

Opera Rara Insider Series featuring partner musicologists will start with French Operetta and Offenbach with Dr. Flora Willson and Katy Hamilton on April 26 at the Fidelio Café in London.

Opera Rara Salon Series for emerging artists will begin with Alessandro Fisher and Anna Tilbrook on May 10 in a program of Donizetti Songs at Stone House in London.
