Tchaikovsky is undeniably one of the greatest composers of all time and there is no doubt that his two greatest operas are “Eugene Onegin” and “The Queen of Spades.”
These two operas, which not only share a place at the top of the composer’s creative output, also happen to premiere on March 29. “Onegin” came first in 1879 before “Spades” arrived on the same day in 1890.
Both operas are based on works by Pushkin and unsurprisingly both feature seven scenes spread across three acts. But they also share several differences, which will be the objective of this quiz.
As always, enjoy!
