Opera Queensland Announces 2022 Season

Opera Queensland has announced its 2022 season.

The season will kick off with a new production of “The Sopranos,” which explores the representation of women in opera throughout history. The newly commissioned work by Sarah Holland-Batt will feature over 90 Queensland-based artists and art workers.

Performance Dates: March 29 – April 2, 2022

Next up is Verdi’s “La Traviata,” directed by Sarah Giles. Lorina Gore stars alongside Kang Wang and Jose Carbo.

Performance Dates: July 14-23, 2022

The season will continue with a double bill presentation of “The Call” and “The Human Voice.” The showcase will be presented in collaboration with Brisbane Festival 2022. Alexandra Flood will star in “The Human Voice” while Ali McGregor will headline “The Call.”

Performance Dates: Sept. 20-24, 2022

Concerts

In addition to the main opera productions, audiences will be able to see concerts featuring some of opera’s greatest stars.

Joseph Calleja will perform in recital.

Performance Date: Nov. 3, 2022

Teddy Tahu Rhodes will join forces with Guy Noble in performance.

Performance Date: May 22, 2022

The company will also be touring productions of “The Frog Prince” and “La Bohème” to local schools.
